Lance Gooden comments on international trade and immigration changes

Lance Gooden, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas's 5th district, shared his views on trade, economic policies, and border security in a series of tweets. These messages reflect his support for the former U.S. president and his administration's economic and immigration strategies.

On April 2, 2025, Gooden tweeted about international trade and its significance in the economies of Mexico, Canada, China, and the United States. He stated: "Trade accounts for:

- 73% of Mexico’s GDP

- 67% of Canada’s GDP

- 37% of China’s GDP

- 24% of U.S. GDP

President Trump is using our leverage to get a fair deal on trade and ensure Americans' safety!"

Later that day, Gooden addressed historical grievances related to trade policy: "For decades, Washington allowed Texans to be ripped off by foreign countries. Those days are now over. @POTUS is committed to making America wealthy again! https://t.co/HRnsXnmLGG" This tweet further emphasized his belief in the economic policies of the administration.

On April 3, 2025, Gooden commented on immigration, highlighting a reported decline in illegal border crossings: "Illegal border crossings hit a new low in March, down 94%. Remember when Kamala Harris wasted four years pretending to look for the root causes of the border crisis?" This tweet criticized the previous administration's approach to managing border-related issues.
