Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 5th district, shared a series of tweets addressing issues related to energy policies, healthcare spending, and media coverage. His statements reflect his views on recent actions taken by political figures and organizations.
On February 16, 2025, Gooden commented on energy policies by contrasting the approaches of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. He stated that "Joe Biden on energy: Gave $50 million to an organization that believes 'climate justice travels through a Free Palestine.' President Trump on energy: Established the National Energy Dominance Council to reduce costs for hardworking families."
Later that day, he addressed healthcare spending in California compared to Texas's border security efforts. Gooden noted that "California will spend $10 billion on health care for illegal aliens this year. Texas spent $11 billion to end Joe Biden's border crisis and stop the invasion of illegal aliens. Make Washington more like Texas!"
On February 17, 2025, Gooden criticized a segment aired by "60 Minutes," describing it as supportive propaganda for USAID. He claimed there was no mention of financial misuse within the agency and suggested significant changes were necessary. According to Gooden, "Tonight, 60 Minutes aired a propaganda piece supporting USAID. There was zero mention of the numerous instances of tax dollar waste and abuse by the agency. 60 Minutes should be dismantled just like USAID."
