There were 4,906 students enrolled in Whitehouse ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.8% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.4% of them were boys, and 48.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 63.9% of the Whitehouse ISD total enrollment.

Whitehouse ISD roughly covers schools within Smith County with its main office in Whitehouse.

Among the seven schools in Whitehouse ISD, Whitehouse High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,513 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
