Wood County schools enrollment of gifted and talented students is 343 students in the 2021-2022 school year

Test 04

Wood County schools enrolled 343 students who were identified as being gifted and talented during the 2021-2022 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

This is a 6.2% increase over the previous school year.

Of the 6,324 students enrolled in Wood County schools, 5.4% of them were considered to be gifted and talented.

Wood County enrolled the 90th highest number of gifted and talented students among Texas counties.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

“The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students…dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools…gun violence, and mental health issues,” claimed the Texas Almanac.
