Fruitvale ISD issued the following announcement.
The Bobcat football team lost a very wet football game to a top ten ranked Oakwood this past Friday night, 34-12.
The bobcat defense stepped up and played very well. The bobcats were able to shutout the Oakwood offense in the first half, and caused 5 turnovers on the night.
Seth Vandiver caused many problems for the opposing team, tallying 14 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and an interception returned for a touchdown.
Tacklers for the Bobcats included:
Seth Vandiver - 14, CJ Russell - 6, Kaleb Coleman - 4, Landon Moulton - 3, Darion Greer - 3, Jeremiah Corley - 3, Rogers Martin - 3, Clyde Bumgardner - 2, Isidro Hernandez - 2, Pepper Koonce - 1
4 different Bobcats came up with a fumble recovery:
Seth Vandiver, Landon Moulton, Clyde Bumgardner, and Jeremiah Corley
Offensively, BJ Russell was the lone scorer for the offense after taking a 12 yard run into the end zone. On offense, the Bobcats had some mental mistakes that put a stop to the team's momentum. With several goal-to-go opportunities, the Bobcats couldn't finish their drives.
This Friday the Fruitvale Bobcats take on coach, Wade Johnson and the Bluff Dale Bobcats at Fruitvale at 7:30. I appreciate all of the support that we have received this season, and I hope we can continue to build on what we have created thus far.
Thank you,
Coach Taylor
