CITY OF TYLER: Residents asked to hold onto recyclables until next week due to mechanical issues at Rivers Recycling

Recycle

City of Tyler issued the following announcement.

The City of Tyler Solid Waste Department has been informed of a mechanical breakdown that has shut down the recycling plat at its Recycle Recovery Facility, Rivers Recycling in Kilgore. Rivers Recycling will not be able to accept any materials until the mechanical breakdown has been repaired. Parts are on order and the plant is scheduled to reopen Monday, August 10, 2020.

In this situation, City of Tyler Solid Waste recommends that customers hold their recycle materials until the next collection date, if possible or bring their materials to the Downtown recycling center at 414 N. Bois D'Arc Avenue. Any materials collected before Rivers is reopened, will be disposed at the Greenwood Landfill.

The next closest recycle facilities are in Shreveport, La or Dallas. Due to the driving distance, it is not feasible for Tyler Solid Waste to utilize these facilities.

As a continued campaign to our customers, the Solid Waste Department utilizes Tyler Talks Trash, a mobile app that assists our customers with reminders for recycling and garbage collection days and provides updates of changes in service for holidays and times of inclement weather. If you would like more information or to sign up for this free app, visit www.TylerSolidWaste.com or download the app through Google Play or the App Store.
