CANTON ISD: Superintendent's Message

Lettertoeditor01

Canton ISD issued the following announcement on June 4

Dear Families,

Canton High School will hold its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 on Friday, June 5th at 7:30 p.m. at Norris Birdwell Stadium.

We are thrilled that our seniors will have the opportunity to graduate in a manner that reflects all of their hard work and accomplishments. We know this has been a difficult and trying spring for our students and their families, but we are excited about the opportunity to come together one last time to recognize the Class of 2020.

Canton ISD will follow guidance issued by the Texas Education Agency and health officials to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families in attendance.

Students or family members exhibiting new or worsening symptoms of possible COVID 19, such as coughing, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, diarrhea, feeling feverish of a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or known close contact with a person who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 if exposure to active confirmed case occurred within the last 14 days should exclude themselves from the event.

Seniors will park at the intermediate campus and will meet in the new wing of the high school prior to the graduation ceremony. Families will utilize parking at the football stadium.

Students have been given seven tickets for admission to this year’s ceremony. Four tickets to be used by family members will be for field seating, and the remaining three tickets are to be used for stadium seating on the home side. Attendees must present their ticket to be admitted into the ceremony. Attendees are expected to sit in the designated areas in order to maximize social distancing.

For those unable to attend, the event will be live-streamed on KWJB 95.1 FM and on the district's YouTube Channel. A link to the district's YouTube Channel may be found on our website and Twitter page prior to the event.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, we ask that attendees please exit the stadium in the same manner in which you entered. Attendees will be dismissed from their seating section in a manner to reduce congestion.

We want to make this ceremony a special and memorable occasion for all.

Congratulations Class of 2020!
