Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas' 5th district, has shared his perspectives on tax policies and election integrity through a series of tweets. He discussed the implications of the Trump Tax Cuts and the participation of American citizens in elections.

On April 8, 2025, Gooden articulated concerns that "91% of Americans will see their taxes go up if the Trump Tax Cuts are not extended." He criticized Democrats for previously labeling these cuts as "crumbs" and suggested that this viewpoint shows indifference to the financial impact on citizens.

Continuing on April 9, 2025, Gooden recalled former Speaker Nancy Pelosi's stance, tweeting, "Never forget: Nancy Pelosi called the historic Trump Tax Cuts for American families 'crumbs' and 'so pathetic.' Americans will face the largest tax hike in history if the tax cuts are not extended."

On the same day, Gooden emphasized the exclusivity of American elections to citizens, asserting, "American elections are for American citizens only, not illegal aliens. This is only controversial if you're a Democrat." With these remarks, he reiterated a longstanding debate about the participation rights in national elections.
