Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 5th District, recently expressed his views on several national issues via social media. Gooden, who has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Jeb Hensarling, has been vocal on economic and immigration matters.
In a post dated April 8, 2025, Gooden questioned the opposition to President Trump's reciprocal trade demands, attributing criticism to those who supported trade agreements that harmed U.S. manufacturing and outsourced jobs.
On the same day, Gooden addressed the immigration policy in another post. He contended that Joe Biden had annually allocated $100 million to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to address border issues. Gooden asserted that President Trump eliminated this expenditure and stressed the need to prevent NGOs from financing immigration, which he perceives as problematic.
Later that day, Gooden commented on national security. He stated that the deportation of terrorists should be viewed as beneficial to all Americans, rather than a victory solely for President Trump and his allies, acknowledging even those who oppose Trump.
