Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas' 5th district since 2019, shared his thoughts on recent political developments through a series of tweets. Gooden, who succeeded Jeb Hensarling and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives, has been vocal about immigration policies and other executive actions under President Trump's administration.

On January 26, 2025, Gooden highlighted actions taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during President Trump's first week in office. He mentioned that "murderers, robbers, and kidnappers" are among those arrested by ICE. He questioned Democratic opposition to these actions in his tweet "Murderers, robbers, and kidnappers."

Later the same day, Gooden tweeted about several initiatives implemented by President Trump within his initial days of office. These included starting deportations, pardoning January 6 defendants, canceling the electric vehicle mandate, unleashing American energy resources, mandating a return to office work environments, and eliminating diversity programs. In this tweet "Deportations → started", he praised Trump for fulfilling campaign promises swiftly.

On January 27th, Gooden compared immigration policies between President Biden's administration and President Trump's new directives. He criticized Biden for using American planes to bring illegal aliens into the United States while praising Trump for planning to use foreign planes to deport them back to their home countries. He stated "Under Joe Biden..." that strong leadership yields quick results.
