There were four Asian students enrolled in Grand Saline ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 20% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Grand Saline ISD schools welcomed 1,214 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 0.3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Grand Saline ISD roughly covers schools within Van Zandt County and has a main office in Grand Saline.

Among the five schools in Grand Saline ISD schools, Grand Saline Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of two students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
