There were 2,001 students enrolled in Rusk ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.6% of them were boys, and 49.4% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 62.6% of the Rusk ISD total enrollment.

Rusk ISD roughly covers schools within Cherokee County with its main office in Rusk.

Among the five schools in Rusk ISD, Rusk High School recorded the highest enrollment of 594 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
