Alba-Golden ISD welcomed 861 students in 2021-22 school year

There were 861 students enrolled in Alba-Golden ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 54.6% of them were boys, and 45.4% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 85.1% of the Alba-Golden ISD total enrollment.

Alba-Golden ISD roughly covers schools within Wood County with its main office in Alba.

Among the three schools in Alba-Golden ISD, Alba-Golden Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 429 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
