Tyler ISD Early College High School issued the following announcement.
Two Career and Technology Center educators were recently awarded with prestigious honors from the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT). Counselor Sarah Jane Walker was named CTAT Area 3 Counselor of the Year and Graphics Design teacher, Michael Sturrock, was named the CTAT Area 3 Teacher of the Year.
“I am honored to be recognized for my work as a Career Technology Education counselor,” Walker said. “When you see students in a classroom inspired and engaged in career-focused learning, you realize that Career and Technical courses are changing the face of education for the better.”
CTAT Area 3 includes districts located within Region 7 and Region 8 Education Service Centers and represent mostly all of Northeast Texas.
“To be recognized at the CTAT Area 3 level for your passion in helping students become successful, floods me with inspiration and motivation to keep teaching these young minds,” Sturrock said.
Walker and Sturrock will now advance to the state level of competition that will be held in conjunction with the CTAT State Conference in February 2021. They will compete against representatives from the remaining 11 CTAT areas from across the state of Texas.
