Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 5th district, shared his views on various political issues through a series of tweets. Gooden, who has been serving in Congress since 2019 after replacing Jeb Hensarling, commented on topics ranging from tariffs to border security and drug cartels.

On February 4, 2025, Gooden questioned the response to tariff increases by President Joe Biden. He asked, "Where was the Democrat and mainstream media outrage when Joe Biden hiked tariffs?"

Later that day, Gooden criticized the frequency of visits by Biden's Border Czar compared to those under President Trump. He stated, "Joe Biden's Border Czar visited the border twice in four years for photo ops." He further noted that under Trump's administration, key figures had visited within two weeks and asserted that "America's national security is being taken seriously once again."

In another tweet on February 4, Gooden addressed threats posed by Mexican cartels. He claimed that "Mexican cartels have ordered their members to target Border Patrol agents with kamikaze drones." He supported Trump's designation of these cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and expressed confidence in current measures against them.
