Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas' 5th District since 2019, has recently shared his views on various national issues through a series of tweets. Gooden, who succeeded Jeb Hensarling and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives, often discusses topics such as immigration and foreign policy.

On January 31, 2025, Gooden tweeted about illegal immigration: "If criminal illegal aliens don't want to be sent to Guantanamo Bay, they can always self-deport."

The following day, February 1, he criticized President Joe Biden's foreign policy decisions in Venezuela compared to those of former President Donald Trump. He stated: "Joe Biden lifted sanctions on Venezuela and got nothing in return. President Trump secured the release of six American hostages in Venezuela days after taking office. Strong and competent leadership gets results."

On February 2, Gooden addressed the issue of drug trafficking across U.S. borders, particularly focusing on fentanyl as a leading cause of death among Americans aged 18 to 45. He remarked: "Fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 45. Open borders are deadly. If Mexico and Canada don’t want tariffs, they must crack down on fentanyl and work with President Trump to secure the borders!"
