There were 625 white students enrolled in Hawkins ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Hawkins ISD schools welcomed 769 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 81.3% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Hawkins ISD roughly covers schools within Wood County and has a main office in Hawkins.

Among the two schools in Hawkins ISD schools, Hawkins High School / Middle recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 315 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
