How many Pacific Islander students were enrolled in Tyler ISD schools in 2022-23 school year?

There were seven Pacific Islander students enrolled in Tyler ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Tyler ISD schools welcomed 18,328 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Pacific Islander students comprised 0% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Tyler ISD roughly covers schools within Smith County and has a main office in Tyler.

Among the 25 schools in Tyler ISD schools, Tyler Legacy High School recorded the highest enrollment of Pacific Islander students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of four students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
