Rains ISD Education: 1,729 students were enrolled in schools in 2021-22 school year

There were 1,729 students enrolled in Rains ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.2% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 54.7% of them were boys, and 45.3% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 74.3% of the Rains ISD total enrollment.

Rains ISD roughly covers schools within Rains County with its main office in Emory.

Among the four schools in Rains ISD, Rains High School recorded the highest enrollment of 472 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
