University of Texas at Tyler employee Alan Lizarraga donates $378 to Bernard Sanders' campaign

Alan Lizarraga, an employee at The University of Texas at Tyler, donated $378 to Democratic Party candidate Bernard Sanders, according to the Federal Election Commission.

According to records, there have been $1,784 in campaign contributions made by individuals affiliated with The University of Texas at Tyler as of November 3. Approximately 64.5 percent, or $1,150, of these contributions were made to Republican Party candidates and committees.

Michael Tidwell's contribution of $750 to Republican Party Louis B. Gohmert Jr. was the largest contribution made by someone affiliated with The University of Texas at Tyler since January 1, 2019.

According to an Inside Higher Ed analysis of federal elections data, individuals that were affiliated with colleges and universities have donated five times more money to Joe Biden than to President Trump. A study by Pew Research in 2017 found that 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents thought colleges and universities have a negative impact on the way things are going in this country.
