Cost of college went up for all students at The University of Texas at Tyler

In-state tuition and fees rose 6 percent for 2018-19 at The University of Texas at Tyler, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas residents paid $8,292 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $470 more than the $7,822 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 156.7 percent more than residents this year, or $21,282. Their price tag grew 2 percent from $20,872 in 2017-18.

About 93 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Texas residents. About 2 percent are residents of other states and 5 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 82 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 396 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.8 million and 287 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.6 million.

Including all undergraduates (10,206), 4,083 students used grants or scholarships totaling $25.9 million, and 2,719 students took out $19.3 million in federal student loans.
