Congressman Lance Gooden has been sworn in for a new term representing Texas' 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The oath-taking took place today, marking the beginning of his continued service.
"As I begin this new term, I remain dedicated to working with President Trump to secure our borders, bring jobs back from overseas, strengthen our national defense, and dismantle Biden’s weaponized government," said Congressman Gooden. "The people of East Texas deserve a strong, America First voice in Washington, and I am committed to delivering results that improve our lives and safeguard the future."
In the 119th Congress, Representative Gooden will serve on two key committees: the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Armed Services. Within the Judiciary Committee, he is part of both the Administrative State and Regulatory Reform Subcommittee and the Courts and Intellectual Property Subcommittee. These roles involve him in policy efforts aimed at prioritizing U.S. innovation, protecting intellectual property rights, advancing artificial intelligence initiatives, and addressing strategic competition with China.
On the Armed Services Committee, Rep. Gooden participates in the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee as well as the Military Personnel Subcommittee. This position holds particular importance given Texas' substantial role in national defense with its 15 active military bases and significant aerospace, aviation, and defense workforce. In 2021 alone, these operations contributed at least $114.1 billion to Texas' economy.
