Congressman Lance Gooden (R-Texas) has raised concerns about the Biden-Harris Administration's handling of national security information, specifically focusing on the FBI's recent crime reporting. According to Gooden, the FBI's announcement of a "3.0% decrease in national violent crime in 2023" is misleading due to significant data manipulation and underreporting.
"The FBI’s latest crime report is not only fundamentally flawed, it’s a dangerous lie," said Rep. Gooden. "The Biden-Harris White House is playing politics with people’s lives, providing false comfort when American cities are bleeding from a surge in violence."
Gooden has addressed a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray demanding transparency and correction of what he calls propagandistic misinformation. He pointed out that data from regions with high crime rates, including Los Angeles and New York City, were omitted from the report, accusing the FBI of selectively using statistics to support the administration's narrative.
"This misrepresentation of data by the FBI is a calculated act of deception that undermines our nation’s security apparatus at the highest levels," Congressman Gooden continued. "It's nothing short of criminal to mislead the American public into thinking they are safe under this administration’s policies."
Gooden is seeking an explanation for these discrepancies and calls for changes in the FBI’s reporting procedures to ensure integrity and trust in federal crime data dissemination.
Joining Gooden in this call for action are Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX) and Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI).
