Ut Tyler University Academy School District Education: 37 Asian students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 37 Asian students enrolled in Ut Tyler University Academy School District in the 2022-23 school year, 5.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Ut Tyler University Academy School District welcomed 872 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 4.2% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Ut Tyler University Academy School District roughly covers schools within Smith County and has a main office in Tyler.

Among the three schools in Ut Tyler University Academy School District, UT Tyler University Academy at Palestine recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 17 students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
