There were 61 white students enrolled in New Summerfield ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.2% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that New Summerfield ISD schools welcomed 515 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 11.8% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

New Summerfield ISD roughly covers schools within Cherokee County and has a main office in New Summerfield.

New Summerfield School was the only school in the district which enrolled white students, welcoming 61 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
