There were 1,042 students enrolled in Edgewood ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54.3% of them were boys, and 45.7% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 79.4% of the Edgewood ISD total enrollment.

Edgewood ISD roughly covers schools within Van Zandt County with its main office in Edgewood.

Among the four schools in Edgewood ISD, Edgewood High School recorded the highest enrollment of 314 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
