2021 has 4.9% of Smith County residents unemployed

Smith County recorded an unemployment rate of 4.9% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 5,506 people out of the 231,429 living in Smith County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Smith County has decreased compared to the 5.5% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Smith County was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.3%.

Of the 107,278 people who had a job during that time, 182 were employed in the Armed Forces and 107,096 belonged to the civilian labor force.
