On July 15, 2025, Hughes posted about an event in Tyler with Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian and the Grassroots America We the People (GAWTP) group. He wrote, “Railroad Commissioner @ChristianForTX and I had a really good time with @GAWTP in Tyler. Lots of folks here who love our country and our state and it was great being back among all these friends. #txlege”.
The following day, on July 16, 2025, Hughes highlighted another gathering in Tyler: “I enjoyed being back in Tyler with Rep. @DanielAldersTX and a room full of engaged East Texans at our town hall hosted by the Smith County Republican Club.
