Two days later, on March 29, Nichols recognized National Vietnam War Veterans Day with a message of gratitude: “Today, on March 29th, we honor National Vietnam War Veterans Day. Let’s recognize the courage and sacrifice of those who served, and show gratitude for the challenges they faced, both in Vietnam and when returning home. Thank you, Vietnam veterans, for your service.”
On March 30, he highlighted local improvements for pet owners in Nacogdoches: “Exciting news for Nacogdoches dog lovers! Banita Creek Park’s dog park has nearly doubled in size, with new areas for small & large dogs. Thanks to the Running of the Blueberries race, $22,000 funded the expansion.”
Nichols succeeded Todd Staples as senator after being elected in 2007 and has continued to provide regular updates on regional initiatives and events affecting East Texas communities.
