Sen. Robert Nichols marked several observances and local developments in a series of tweets between March 24 and March 26, 2026. Nichols, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2007 to represent the state’s 3rd Senate district, used his platform to highlight agriculture, honor military service, and comment on school athletics.
On March 24, Nichols recognized National Agriculture Day by posting: “On National Agriculture Day, we celebrate the Texas farms and ranches that help feed both our state and the nation. Texas has more farms and ranches than any other state, and agriculture plays a big role in supporting our communities.”
The following day, he observed National Medal of Honor Day with a tribute: “On National Medal of Honor Day, we salute the brave Americans awarded our nation’s highest military honor. Their courage protects our freedom.”
On March 26, Nichols turned his attention to local education news: “After a season of progress, Nacogdoches Independent School District is preparing to hire new athletic leadership. Excited to see what’s ahead for Nacogdoches athletics.”
Nichols has represented East Texas since replacing Todd Staples in the Senate nearly two decades ago.
