Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 5th district, shared his views on various topics through a series of tweets. Gooden has been serving in Congress since 2019, succeeding Jeb Hensarling. He previously served in the Texas House of Representatives and is an alumnus of the University of Texas, Austin.

On March 6, 2025, Gooden posted a cryptic tweet simply stating: “Shot: Chaser:”. The tweet included a link but provided no further context or explanation.

Later that day, at 17:52 UTC, he tweeted about law enforcement injuries during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. He expressed support for painting over Washington D.C.’s BLM plaza by stating: “2,000+ law enforcement officers were injured in the 2020 BLM riots. Every American should applaud the decision to paint over DC’s BLM plaza.”

In another tweet posted at 21:43 UTC on the same day, Gooden criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’s handling of border security compared to Vice President JD Vance’s efforts. He wrote: “Vice President @JDVance has visited the border twice within the last six months. Failed Biden Border Czar Kamala Harris visited the border a total of two times during four long years. We didn’t need new laws to secure the border; we needed new leadership in the White House.”
