Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, shared his views on recent political developments through a series of tweets. Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 and residing in Terrell, Gooden has been active in politics for several years. He replaced Jeb Hensarling and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019.

On May 15, 2025, Gooden commented on international diplomacy by noting that “The leader who the media told us would start World War III is securing deal after deal in the Middle East.” This statement suggests a shift in perception regarding leadership and foreign policy outcomes.

Later that day, he addressed immigration issues under different administrations. Gooden stated that “Under Trump, unaccompanied migrant child encounters have plummeted by 97%, with 5,000+ kids reunited with families.” He contrasted this with his view of President Biden’s handling of the situation: “Under Biden’s negligence, 320,000 minors vanished, with many trafficked and lost in deadly crossings.” He also directed readers to his op-ed published in the Washington Examiner.

In another tweet posted on May 15, Gooden criticized past Democratic support for President Joe Biden’s capabilities. He recalled that “A year ago, every Democrat was calling Joe Biden ‘sharp’ and ‘ready to lead for four more years.'” He asserted that “The American people have not and will not forget what they tried to cover-up.”

Gooden graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in 2001 and a BBA in 2004.
