Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, recently expressed his views on several national issues through a series of tweets. Gooden, who succeeded Jeb Hensarling and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives, shared his thoughts on topics ranging from immigration to financial accountability.
On February 8, 2025, Gooden commented on the reactions of sanctuary cities regarding immigration policies. He stated: “The sanctuary cities that were furious about Texas sending illegal aliens their way are now throwing a tantrum over deportations. Make it make sense.”
Later that day, he addressed the impact of leadership changes on Mexican cartels. He tweeted: “Under Joe Biden, Mexican cartels made $13 billion a year. America traded the cartels’ favorite business partner for the cartels’ worst enemy. The days of Mexican cartels controlling and profiting off the southern border are over with President Trump.”
In another tweet posted on February 9, 2025, Gooden raised concerns about financial mismanagement linked to an energy project. He wrote: “Taxpayers lost hundreds of millions to the Crescent Dunes project. The Biden administration attempted to sweep this fraud under the rug. I am calling on AG @PamBondi to investigate and deliver accountability on behalf of American taxpayers.”
