On April 19, 2025, Gooden remarked on Dr. Anthony Fauci’s financial situation post-retirement, asserting that “Dr. Fauci raked in $3.5 million in his first year of retirement. He should write a check to the small businesses he shut down.” Fauci’s financial gains after leaving public service have drawn attention, prompting Gooden’s commentary linking the earnings to actions during the COVID-19 pandemic that impacted small businesses.
In a statement on April 21, 2025, Gooden commented on the economic state of the group Hamas, noting that “Hamas is on the verge of going bankrupt. No USAID, no terrorist paychecks. Gooden, who was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and resides in Terrell, studied at the University of Texas, Austin, earning a BA in 2001 and a BBA in 2004. He has also served in the Texas House of Representatives prior to his tenure in Congress.
