Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 5th District since 2019, expressed several concerns through his Twitter account. Gooden has a history of public service including time in the Texas House of Representatives. His educational background includes degrees from the University of Texas, Austin, and he is originally from Nashville, Tennessee.
In his April 4, 2025 post, Gooden called for the Department of Justice to “launch a full investigation into the radical activist group The 65 Project.” He characterized the group as a “political hit squad” targeting individuals who defended former President Donald Trump.
In another tweet on the same day, Gooden remarked on the arrest of “47 Tren de Aragua terrorists” in Texas. He advocated for their immediate deportation, contrasting his stance with what he perceives as the Democrats’ opposition.
Later on April 4, Gooden tweeted criticism of Democratic policies during the COVID-19 pandemic. He mentioned that “nearly 60% of COVID-19 business closures were permanent.” Gooden accused Democrats of falsely claiming that Donald Trump’s tariffs could harm U.S. businesses.
