Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, has been vocal on social media regarding various political issues. Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 and currently residing in Terrell, Gooden’s background includes serving in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019 and graduating from the University of Texas, Austin.

On May 12, 2025, Gooden criticized Democrats for their actions during an event involving Laken Riley. He stated: “Never forget: Democrats refused to stand for Laken Riley. Meanwhile, Democrats will push, shove, scream, and storm an ICE detention facility for illegal alien criminals.”

Later that day, he acknowledged former President Trump’s efforts regarding hostages in Gaza. He mentioned: “Edan Alexander is the last living American hostage in Gaza. Thanks to President Trump, Evan has been released after being held in captivity for over 550 days. Peace through strength in action.”

In another tweet on the same day, Gooden highlighted concerns about increasing violence against ICE agents: “ICE agents are facing a staggering 413% increase in assaults. Every Democrat who stormed the ICE detention facility has helped fuel this dangerous climate. It’s time to hold them accountable for their actions that have endangered lives.”

Gooden’s statements reflect his ongoing engagement with national security issues and immigration policies.
